3 New Spirits Releases Blending Craft, Rarity and Design

The latest launches from The Macallan, The Glenrothes and Mystique Gin span art, age and botanical complexity, offering fresh talking points for collectors and cocktail lovers alike.

The Macallan’s Romantica Collection

The Macallan’s Romantica Collection marks a rare convergence of whisky and art. Matured for 40 years in a single sherry-seasoned European oak cask on The Macallan Estate, the release continues the legacy of The Macallan 1926 while opening a new chapter for the house.

For the collection, Sir Peter Blake, Valerio Adami and Michael Dillon reunite to create exclusive artworks inspired by the whisky’s journey from 1986 to 2026. Blake’s The Music Room imagines Easter Elchies House in 1986, capturing the convivial spirit behind the opening of The Macallan Octagon Room. Adami’s Romantica (1986) depicts Janet “Nettie” Harbinson, custodian of The Macallan when the 1926 was distilled. Dillon’s landscape, The Macallan Estate, turns to Speyside’s natural beauty and the distillery’s green-roofed architecture. The single malt offers notes of apricot conserve, glazed peach, dark cherry, treacle and rich cacao.

Mystique Gin

Distilled in the United Kingdom, Mystique is a premium London Dry Gin that brings together classic botanicals and nature-inspired ingredients. Crafted from a curated blend of 12 botanicals, it features juniper berry, lemon peel, caraway seeds, moringa leaves, kaffir lime leaves, ground ginger and subtle hints of rosemary. The result is a crisp yet layered profile, where bright citrus notes meet herbaceous depth, delicate spice and a nuanced nutty undertone.

Its balanced flavour makes Mystique versatile enough for both classic gin serves and more creative cocktails. There is enough juniper-led structure to satisfy traditionalists, while the kaffir lime, rosemary and ginger introduce a fresh, contemporary lift.

Mystique’s identity is built around a mythical goddess of nature, a figure that reflects the spirit’s balance of natural elegance and quiet sophistication. This idea extends from its botanical composition to its packaging: a minimalist bottle with refined detailing, designed to echo the gin’s understated character.

The Glenrothes 51

The Glenrothes 51 is a rare limited-edition release that approaches whisky through the lens of fragility, time and transformation. Aged for 51 years and limited to just 100 bottles worldwide, it is the distillery’s oldest and most daring expression to date. Crafted from just two casks, the whisky is made using exceptionally soft water from The Glenrothes’ private spring, resulting in a spirit that retains vibrancy and complexity despite its age.

Its presentation is equally dramatic. The 51 can only be accessed by breaking open its sculptural Jesmonite column, revealing the hidden “orchid” within — a tribute to the wild orchids that grow on The Glenrothes’ Speyside estate. Owners are then invited to return the fragments to the distillery, where a Kintsugi artist will restore them with precious metal, transforming the broken casing into a one-of-a-kind vase for a living orchid.
