The classic martini gets bottled by Hendrick’s
Hendrick’s joins the ready-to-pour market with its first bottled cocktail
Just in time for the festive season, Hendrick’s has launched a brand new drink, the Hendrick’s Gin Martini. The bottled drink is the first cocktail to be launched from Batch & Bottle, the new ready-to-pour range by William Grant & Sons, and its first entry into the bottled cocktail category.
Master distiller Lesley Gracie created the cocktail in collaboration with five world-class bars: Brujas in Mexico, Yaldy in Germany, Maybe Sammy in Australia, Nauticus Scotland, and Singapore’s very own Nutmeg & Clove. The bars were invited to add their own riff on the classic and Nutmeg and Clove proposed chrysanthemum vermouth to the mix to play on Hendrick’s floral notes.
According to Colia Chia, co-founder of Nutmeg and Clove, a martini must be served cold, garnished with a classic lemon twist, and finished in three to five sips lest it warms up. He insists on freezing the bottle of gin and Hendrick’s gin martini. When frozen, the impurities of the gin are locked down, he says, and the botanical notes are more pronounced.
Limited quantities of Hendrick’s Gin Martini are available in December 2021 at Nutmeg & Clove, and retails at $88 a bottle.
