Budapest trails

While overshadowed by the more famous city of Prague, Budapest is equally pretty, and buzzes with the bushy-tailed excitement of a city just starting to create its own fun. It has a free spirit, seemingly unencumbered by its long and complex history—first as a Celtic settlement, then a Roman town before Attila the Hun galloped in during the 9th century, then came the Mongols, followed by the Ottomans, and Soviets during the 1956 revolution which left bullet holes that are still evident on the walls of some buildings.
