As we bid farewell to the season of turkeys, mistletoe and Christmas pudding, Lunar New Year classics like pen cais and yu sheng have slowly started inching their way onto our dining table. This year, to welcome the Year of the Dog, Swissôtel Merchant Court, Singapore has rolled out an extensive spread of auspicious all-you-can-eat goodies for you.
Hold your annual Chinese New Year gathering by the beautiful Singapore River at Ellenborough Market Café. The Peranakan-International buffet restaurant offers a bountiful spread of tantalising creations like the Hong Kong Style Steamed Garoupa Fish, Dried Oyster with Black Moss in Tianjin Cabbage and Stir-fried Asparagus and Scallops in XO sauce. For classic Cantonese roasts, head over to the Roast Station and tuck into their collection of chicken, char siew, duck and siew yoke. Remember to save room for that all-time classic, the rich and indulgent Durian Pengat.
Available from 5 February to 2 March. Prices are $68/adult, $34/child for lunch, and $80/adult, $40/child for dinner.
Skip the hassle of cooking and cleaning when you choose to walk home with their tantalising takeaway treats, like the classic Prosperity Smoked Salmon Yu Sheng ($68 for 10 persons), Braised Buddha’s Temptation Claypot ($388.80 for 10 persons). For something traditional opt for their Chinese Roast Combination platter ($78) – choose to include three dishes from these four options, the Roast Duck with Plum Sauce, Roast Honey Char Siew, Roast Chicken or Roast Pork Belly. Available from 5 February to 2 March.
