SKAI, Swissotel The Stamford

Immerse yourself in a high tea feast as SKAI returns with the second edition of its four-part, art-inspired afternoon tea series. Titled “Gathering of The Greats, A Wave from The East”, the bespoke culinary experience takes guests on a journey inspired by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai’s iconic woodblock prints: “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”.

The dessert selection is particularly exquisite. The Chocolate Fuji is composed of ivory white chocolate shell and mango passion fruit coulis centre; while the Sudachi Macaron shines the spotlight on the Japanese citrus fruit sudachi, paired with delicate cream cheese, to represent the birds in “Umezawa Manor in Sagami Province.” A favourite in the spread is the Rose Grapefruit – a mascarpone-based cream puff designed to look like a beautiful chrysanthemum.

Guests can enjoy a choice of two handcrafted drinks inspired by Hokusai’s “Under the Wave off Kanagawa” to complement their high tea experience. The Horizon Gaze ($22 as a cocktail, $15 as a mocktail) features a blend of passion fruit and citrus with blue pea flower, creating layers of yellow-blue-magenta colours that represent the scene when looking beyond the horizon. The Umi No Kisu Latte ($10), served hot or cold, is an elegant drink with butterfly pea flower, sakura and coconut foam depicting Mount Fuji.

The high tea experience at SKAI is available until 1 July, with sessions from 3pm to 5pm.  It is priced at $68 per person. For reservations, visit: www.skai.sg.
