Celebrated Singer Katherine Jenkins OBE on Crafting Cygnet Gin

Hitting the Right Notes with Cynet Gin from Wales

For more than two decades, Katherine Jenkins OBE has captivated audiences with her soaring mezzo-soprano vocals, performing at prestigious venues worldwide. Now, the celebrated singer is bringing that same dedication to craftsmanship to the world of spirits with Cygnet Gin, a luxury gin she co-founded with social-impact filmmaker Andrew Levitas. Crafted at the historic Copperworks Distillery in Swansea, Wales, by sixth-generation distillers Chris and Aster Sadler, Cygnet Gin represents a thoughtful evolution in the ultra-premium spirits category, appealing to those who appreciate both craftsmanship and innovation.

A longtime gin enthusiast, Jenkins found herself gravitating away from traditional spirits due to their harsher finish, which she felt could affect her voice. She also noticed a gap in the market — few brands spoke directly to female gin drinkers without veering into overly sweet or artificially coloured territory. “I wanted to create a gin that was smooth enough to be sipped neat without the need for sugary mixers,” she explains. The result is Cygnet 22, a gin designed to balance botanical complexity with a silkier mouthfeel, offering a more refined drinking experience.

About the bottle

Jenkins’s approach to Cygnet Gin mirrors her dedication to purity and precision in music. Distilled with 22 botanicals sourced from around the world, its composition is carefully calibrated for both flavour and functional benefits. Amongst its key ingredients is Manuka Honey, a staple in Jenkin’s vocal care routine. “Manuka honey is something I use for my voice, for health reasons, and even for my children. We discovered that incorporating it into the distillation processes changes the texture of the gin,” she shares. Beyond its soothing qualities, the honey lends a subtle smoothness, resulting in a rounded finish with a complex depth of flavour.

Jenkins’s Welsh heritage is equally reflected in the spirit’s identity. The sleek, handblown decanter takes inspiration from a drop of pure Welsh water, an homage to the country’s pristine landscapes and its artisanal craftsmanship. “Wales is known as the home of the fire breathing dragon, a place of mythical stories, outstanding natural beauty, and a rich history of music and poetry—I wanted to channel that essence into the design of Cygnet,” Jenkins adds.

Marking its debut in Singapore’s finest establishments

Following its successful UK debut, Cygnet Gin is expanding internationally and has now made its way to Singapore, a destination Jenkins feels a strong connection to. “I’ve been performing here for over 15 years, and I’ve always been drawn to its appreciation of innovation, luxury, and excellent craftsmanship,” she says. The gin is set to be featured in some of the city’s top bars and dining venues, including Jigger & Pony, Atlas, Last Word, Nutmeg & Clove, Claudine, Lavo, Nighthawk, and more.

Expanding horizons

With Singapore as a launchpad into Asia, Cygnet Gin is already setting its sights on other key markets. “Singapore is a great springboard for the region, and we’re excited to introduce Cygnet to more luxury bars, restaurants, and events,” Jenkins shares. Plans are already in motion for expansions into Dubai, New York, Miami, and Las Vegas, bringing her vision of an elegant, contemporary gin to a global audience. “Once you’ve tried Cygnet Gin on the rocks or in a martini, you’ll never go back,” Jenkins remarks. While the sentiment is bold, it is clear that her approach to gin, much like her music, is driven by an unwavering commitment to quality.
