Event of the month: Epicurean Market
Sure, a number of food fairs and gourmet festivals are beginning to take over our social calendar. But what’s not to love about a gathering of purveyors and restaurants at Marina Bay Sands’ inaugural Epicurean Market?
Your belly may be still groaning from the overindulging feast of the festive season but Marina Bay Sands gives all foodies a new reason to ditch their diet resolutions with the Epicurean Market happening from 25 to 27 January. The inaugural three-day gourmet food and wine appreciation event gives guests the chance to sample from the celebrity restaurants at Marina Bay Sands. If you are a devotee of CUT’s famous Mini Kobe “Sliders”, you’ll be happy to know that they’ll be doling them out at their booth. But the Marina Bay Sands’ Epicurean Market is not just about sampling from the celebrity chefs, it’s also about picking up gourmet produce from your favourite dining establishments. CUT, for example, would be selling cuts of meat that they serve at the restaurant, including the U.S.D.A. Prime, Illinois Corn Fed beef aged for 21 days and American Wagyu/Angus “Kobe style” beef from Snake River Farms, Idaho.
Spread across three expo halls in Sands Expo and Convention Center and occupying over 12,500 sq m of space, Epicurean market will showcase a stellar line up including db Bistro Moderne, Guy Savoy, Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza, Waku Ghin, Sky on 57, CUT as well as Au Chocolat, Caffe B, Hide Yamamoto, Jin Shan, KU DÉ TA, Punjab Grill by Jiggs Kalra and Todai. Celebrity chefs such as Justin Quek, Nancy Silverton, Tetsuya Wakuda and Daniel Boulud will be conducting cooking demonstrations, workshops and talks throughout the event. “Through personal interactions and displays at our booth, we hope to educate, engage and connect with food lovers around the region. I also plan to conduct food demonstrations, and will be bringing sake masters to heighten the Waku Ghin gourmet experience,” says Wakuda.
epicure magazine is the exclusive media sponsor for the Epicurean market. Official spirits sponsor Beam Global Asia will serve a customised Effen Vodka cocktail— Pineapple Basil Smash—created by Beam Global’s brand educator and mixologist, Jamey Merkel. Cognac lovers can also participate in the Courvoisier Connoisseur Collection cognac appreciation classes. Eat your way through the extensive selection of international cheese and the live oyster bar at the Market Place.
