Italian Delights
An upscale Italian restaurant that focuses on steak, Bistecca Tuscan Steakhouse will please sophisticated palates. For starters, tuck into the indulgent burrata with cherry tomatoes, as well as a platter of house-cured cold cuts. What’s an Italian menu without pastas? Fuel up with the pumpkin ravioli served with sage and roasty brown butter, and their popular squid ink tagliolini with crab, fennel, chilli and drizzled with lemon truffle. For mains, dive into their signature bistecca alla costata and the pan-seared sea bass cooked in white wine, tomato capers and potatoes. Whisky and steak
If dad is a self-confessed whisky fiend, bring him to Sear Steakhouse on 14 June for a taste of the exclusive The Macallan Rare Cask over a four-course whisky pairing dinner. The pairing is curated by Gerald Lu, president of the Sommelier Association of Singapore. Start with the marinated French sardine, served with grilled Halloumi cheese, smoked tomato coulis, avocado mousse and then drizzled with lemon dill butter sauce; is paired with the 12 Year Old Fine Oak. Elevate the flavours of the Sher Wagyu Tri Tip with the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, then tuck into the tender tender Duroc pork cheek with the Rare Cask – crafted from rare casks which gives a warm, full and woody aroma. Japanese Steakhouse
Want your steak and a side of sashimi too? Dad can enjoy both with Fat Cow‘s five-course menu. Savour a selection of premium fresh sashimi before moving on to the sake-steamed clams served with uni, shimeji mushroom and with a dash of lemon grass dashi broth. Equally good is the grilled jumbo prawn served also with uni in black garlic soy and aonori seaweed. The main highlight is the Mayura Wagyu striploin served with umami moromi miso and yuzu salt. Each diners get a complimentary cup of Nanbu Bijin Tokubetsu Junmai sake. Good old-fashioned beef
An oldie but goodie, Lawry’s The Prime Rib knows the way to dad’s heart is a good and hearty prime rib and it sticks to what it does best. The restaurant is conveniently located in Mandarin Gallery – opt for the window-side tables for views of Orchard Road and ample natural light to get the best Instagram shots. Kick off with their four-course Father’s Day menu with the smoked salmon salad with rich Parmesan shavings and a topping of indulgent Arbequina caviar, crisp Katsuobushi, followed by the pan-fried foie gras with red wine and plump raisin jus. Enjoy hearty mains such as the signature roasted prime rib of beef served with U.S. Idaho mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Meat galore
If you prefer a meat-focused restaurant that’s on the outskirts of town, check out The Carvery which is located just beside IKEA along Alexandra Road. The spacious hotel restaurant boasts a wood-fired Argentinean grill, which uses hickory and mesquite wood to impart a distinct smoky flavour to the meats. The star of the menu is the 30-day dry aged U.S. Angus prime rib, slow-cooked and roasted over the grill, it is served medium rare and sprinkled with truffle sea salt.
