Premium steakhouses are aplenty in Singapore but Wooloomooloo Steakhouse has our vote for being able to do one thing extraordinarily well, and that is to serve up a piece of steak that is absolutely no-frills and straightforwardly good. At Wooloomooloo, steaks are broiled between 650°C to 700°C to attain the ideal medium rare doneness. One of the highly favoured house specials is the Australian Black Angus Tomahawk ($125/1.1kg to 1.3kg). Few steaks have an alpha status like the Tomahawk and served with the bone in, it is absolutely colossal. Cooked to medium rare perfection and boasting a juicy, tender flesh, the Tomahawk will definitely pamper any hardcore carnivore. Even the desserts such as the Classic Bread & Butter Pudding ($16) and Pavlova with Chantilly Cream ($18) left us well satiated.

Wooloomooloo also has a wine list of over 150 labels and their party trick has got to be their personalised wine locker services. Purchase $2,500 worth of wines and diners can store their favourite vino in a personalised wine locker with a name-engraved brass plate for a year. And did we mention that Wooloomooloo is situated in a stunning locale with impressive panoramic views of the city? Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, 2 Stamford Road, Level 3, Raffles City Shopping Centre. Tel: 6338 0621, Lunch (Daily) 12pm  to 2.30 pm, Dinner (Daily) 6.30pm to 11pm.

The Terrace has launched Steak Nights which lets diners select a cut of their choice from the butcher’s showcase before it gets sent to the open grill. Choose from a mouth-watering selection, which includes Black Angus rib eye, wagyu rump, Australian lamb rack and more. (A minimum order of 100g is required and is charged by weight per every gram.) Even though the steak is the star of the night and is indeed cooked to juicy tenderness with a crisp exterior that only a fire from an open grill can give, the side dishes, particularly the mash potato stole the show. It’s redolent of buttery flavour and was perfectly smooth and creamy. Other side dishes include mac ‘n’ cheese, potato gratin and bleu cheese. For an additional $25, you can enjoy the soup, salad and dessert buffet as well. The Terrace, 2 Bukit Manis Road, The Beaufort, The Sentosa Resort And Spa. Tel: 6371 1414
