Indigenous Bali: An Immersive Journey by The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali
Embark on a curated journey with Indigenous Bali programme by The Laguna Bali and discover the island's treasures like never before.
The Island of the Gods is as opulent as the name suggests, with endless natural bounty to witness and vibrant culture to understand, making it as respected as it is a coveted destination to visitors. Drawing from this spirit, The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali invites guests to discover and embrace Bali’s authentic allure through its Indigenous Bali series.
The immersive trips are poised to be transformative as the resort offers fresh perspectives and presents hidden treasures of Bali’s nine characterful regencies. Every region is explored quarterly, allowing guests for repeat visits to the island’s endless abundance. Through the journey, participants will experience curated gastronomic affairs, wellness rituals, and cultural performances that embody the charm of each region.
Nearing the end of the year, the resort tells a story from Tabanan Regency. Celebrated for its lush and bucolic charms where rice paddies stretch far, black sand beaches, and soaring mountains, Tabanan is home to Bali Butterfly Park, the UNESCO World Heritage Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, and hidden waterfalls. Explore the region through curated excursions by The Luxury Collection Concierge, certified destination authorities and proud Les Clefs d’Or concierge society members.
An Epicurean Journey unfolds during this period, starting with a visit to the Kedonganan Fish Market. Afterwards, participants may join a Balinese cooking class for an engaging lesson on the culinary heritage of Tabanan. Kitchen apprentices are encouraged to apply their knowledge in preparing Tabanan-inspired fares as they will learn how to cook them and bring home the recipes.
More activities are offered weekly by the concierge. Taste the favourite herbal drink, Jamu Beras Kencur, in Jamu Ritual at 6pm, followed by Ramayana Theatrical Performance at 6.45pm. As the clock strikes 7.15pm, the Temple Garden presents an indigenous blessing ceremony, offering a profound experience that invites guests to connect deeply with local traditions.
The journey culminates with a hearty buffet dinner at 7.30pm, featuring a dazzling array of Tabanan specials such as Jukut Ares, Soto Ayam Tabanan, Telur Suna Cekuh, and Lawar Nangka. However, make time for a session or two for its spa offerings at the Lagoon Spa, where Tabanan’s traditional lulur spa awaits. Indulge in a Balinese massage or scrub, blending rejuvenating pampering with the region’s time-honoured wellness practices, all within the spa’s modern luxury.
In 2025, The Laguna Bali continues its Indigenous Bali series with Buleleng Regency, where hidden waterfalls, Lovina Beach, and the village of Munduk set the stage for the first adventure. The second quarter shifts to Bangli Regency, featuring journeys to the majestic Batur volcano and the revered Ulun Danu Batur Temple. Untamed forests and golden sunsets take centre stage in Jembrana Regency, followed by the cultural and artistic heart of Gianyar Regency.
