Compassion Swirls, Hope Eclairs and deconstructed cheesecakes are all the incentives you’ll need to contribute to a good cause.

More chefs are realising they have the power to effect social change. Massimo Bottura was recently turning wasted Olympics food into meals for the homeless. Executive chef Eran Mayer of Artisan Boulangerie Co. (ABC) is raising funds in support of the Children’s Cancer Foundation. From 7 September to 7 October, in conjunction with Children’s Day, ABC will donate 70% of the gross proceeds from two specially created pastries, croissant-based Compassion Swirl ($4) and lemon cream-filled Hope Eclairs ($5). The donations will help fund casework and counselling services, as well as art and play therapy. Visit artisanbakery.com.sg for a listing of ABC outlets.

The White Rabbit is contributing to a similar cause. By partnering with Singapore Children’s Society, it will contribute $5 from every à la carte dessert sold from 1 September to 30 October. The Deconstructed Cheesecake will be part of the sweets lineup, with a graham cracker crumble, orange segments and blueberry sorbet.
