Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel, Bali taps into the rich culinary heritage of Indonesia, serving authentic local cuisines through two dinner events.

In the lively precinct of Jimbaran, a Balinese-inspired haven stays concealed within a sprawling tropical garden, offering an escape without missing the buzz in the area. Jimbaran Puri, A Belmond Hotel, Bali pays homage to the island spirit, which guests will find apparent as soon as they enter the hotel. With Independence Day approaching, Jimbaran Puri will host two special dinner events steeped in traditional flavours.

The Merdeka Pairing Dinner and Seraya Kanti Dinner are set to unfold at the resort’s beachside eatery, Nelayan Restaurant. The restaurant’s thatch-roofed, semi-indoor area ensure an immersive traditional ambience, while the outdoor area offers a barefoot luxury al fresco dining experience. With executive chef Adi Wijaya spearheading the kitchen, expect exceptional cuisine to savour in a relaxed yet refined setting.

Merdeka Pairing Dinner

Boasting front-row views of the iconic Jimbaran Bay, the Belmond property celebrates Indonesia’s culinary heritage for Independence Day on 17 August. Not only does the menu showcase chef Adi Wijaya and the team’s culinary excellence, but each course is also paired with local wines and keroncong music by Ibu Lina and friends in the background, elevating the celebratory dinner to new heights.

The dinner begins with Pesan Be Pasih, a Mahi-mahi fillet, expertly grilled in banana leaf with a vibrant tomato, kemangi, and turmeric paste. The amuse-bouche is paired with the crisp and fruity Sababay Ascaro sparkling wine for a delightful start. For a starter, Tuna Dabu-Dabu— shredded grilled tuna with a zesty Manado-inspired sambal, will be paired with Plaga Chardonnay, where the tropical fruit notes complement the dish’s freshness.

Rendang Sapi will grace the tables as the main course. Prime beef rump is slow-cooked to perfection with creamy coconut milk, resulting in a fragrant rendang paste. The Two Island Cabernet Sauvignon, with its complex berry notes and oaky undertones, elevates the dish to new heights.

Finally, Kolak Pisang & Es Krim Nangka will conclude the night on a sweet note. Served with Godoh Biu banana fritters, the stewed banana is enveloped in coconut milk, palm sugar, and jackfruit ice cream. The sweet and rich flavours are perfectly balanced by the Sababay Mascetti ruby port style sweet wine.

Seraya Kanti Dinner

On 19 September, chef Adi Wijaya and local culinary expert, Nyoman Griya, unveil an exciting collaboration dinner. Chef Wijaya’s culinary finesse and Griya’s expertise from her Balinese catering business bring the extraordinary Seraya Kanti Dinner to life.

Translate to sound (seraya) and friend (kanti), the dinner invites guests to experience mebat, a Balinese communal cooking tradition. Gather and dine with loved ones, savouring traditional dishes while enjoying the melodic strains of keroncong music by Ibu Lina and Friends. Witness the culinary magic of chef Wijaya and Nyoman Griya as they prepare the meals behind the Balinese paon (kitchen) using the traditional stove, jalikan, at Nelayan Restaurant.

Begin with the starter, Bulung Jimbaran, a refreshing blend of seaweed and sea grapes, elevated with the fiery kick of galangal and chilli paste and subtle sweetness from grated coconut and fish floss. The main course, Tipat Blayag, offers a symphony of textures and tastes where savoury braised beef, succulent chicken satay, and crispy anchovies complement the steamed rice cake. Boiled quail egg, crispy shallot, and kalasan sauce make vibrant accompaniments that create a harmonious balance.

For dessert, indulge in the sweetness of Sumping Waluh, a delightful blend of glutinous rice flour and pumpkin, and the tropical tang of Tamarillo ice cream alongside the crispy banana fritters known as Pisang Rai.

The Seraya Kanti Dinner is available to book for 19 September, 7pm onwards, at Rp650,000/person.
