Hospitality is often about creating memorable stays, but throughout October 2026, The Westin Jakarta is inviting guests to engage with Indonesian culture in a different way. The Westin Jakarta Gallery: Heritage Above The City transforms the hotel’s Champagne Lounge on Level 52 into a month-long exhibition dedicated to Indonesian craftsmanship, fashion, and design, offering visitors an opportunity to experience local creativity against one of the capital’s highest panoramic views.
Running from 1 to 31 October, the exhibition reflects the hotel’s broader commitment to wellbeing through meaningful experiences that encourage creativity, cultural discovery, and connection. Rather than functioning as a conventional gallery, the space is designed to invite guests to slow down, explore Indonesian artistry, and appreciate the stories behind the country’s enduring creative traditions.
Three leading Indonesian names anchor the exhibition, each representing a different aspect of the nation’s creative heritage. TULOLA Jewelry presents handcrafted pieces inspired by Indonesia’s cultural narratives, combining traditional influences with contemporary jewellery design. Garuda Kencana Batik showcases textile artistry that honours Indonesia’s batik heritage while adapting it for modern lifestyles, highlighting how one of the country’s most celebrated crafts continues to evolve. Completing the collaboration is acclaimed fashion designer Ferry Sunarto, whose elegant creations blend refined tailoring with distinctly Indonesian identity, demonstrating how heritage can be interpreted through contemporary couture.
The exhibition was officially unveiled during an exclusive launch event on 30 September, welcoming representatives from government ministries, embassies, business communities, media, and creative industries. Beyond marking the opening of the gallery, the gathering highlighted the growing dialogue between hospitality, culture, and Indonesia’s creative economy, reinforcing the role hotels can play in supporting local artists and designers.
The Westin Jakarta Gallery: Heritage Above The City extends beyond visual appreciation. It forms part of the brand’s holistic wellbeing philosophy, encouraging guests to reconnect with local culture through craftsmanship, storytelling, and thoughtful design. By placing Indonesian artistry within one of Jakarta’s highest hospitality destinations, the hotel creates an experience where culture becomes as much a part of the visit as accommodation or dining.
Open to hotel guests, local visitors, and cultural enthusiasts throughout October, the exhibition offers a different perspective on Jakarta’s creative landscape. High above the city, visitors are invited to discover that heritage continues to evolve through the hands of today’s artisans, designers, and makers, whose work bridges tradition with contemporary expression.
