From Osaka to Melbourne, W Hotels expands its portfolio in Asia Pacific
Here’s what you need to know about new W Hotels in Japan, Australia and China
Renowned for its reverence for design, fashion and music, W Hotels proudly reveals its four latest W destinations in Asia Pacific. From the striking W Osaka to the rebellious graffiti-clad W Melbourne, bookmark these hotels for your next (hopefully soon) trip.
W Osaka
Situated in the heart of Shinsaibashi shopping district, the hotel’s striking black monolith façade is designed by Osaka-born and star architect Tadao Ando. The minimalist exterior conceals the vibrant interior in a striking contrast between simplicity and extravagance. With playful nightlife scenery of Dotonbori just a few steps away, the hotel weaves Japan’s cultural heritage with contemporary design, embodied in W Osaka Ambassador, Exile Akira. This pet-friendly hotel is made of 337 rooms, six dining outlets, Away Spa, Wet pool and Fit fitness facility to practice the hotel’s wellness philosophy of “Detox. Retox. Repeat”.
W Changsa
Taking inspiration from futuristic interstellar experience, the hotel offers avant-garde 345 guest rooms and suites. Arrive in style into the lobby and mingle with the fashionable crowd at Runway while sipping signature cocktails. The hotel’s other dining destinations includes the all-day dining Tropics and Shine Yen, a modern take on Hunan cuisine.
W Xiamen
Located next to the city’s newest shopping landmark, the 293-rooms and suites hotel pays homage to Xiamen’s nautical history and diverse culture. Described as ‘lush jungle meets silver sea’, the hotel offers unique F&B experiences such as Min Yen Chinese restaurant (Cantonese and Minnan fusion), the all-day dining restaurant Nine, and two bars, Soundscape and Heat. The hotel also offers more than 3,000 square metres of event space.
W Melbourne
Inspired by the city’s lively street art and rebels, W Melbourne’s 294 rooms and suites are an invitation to explore the city’s history. Located on Flinders Lane in the city’s CBD, the neighbourhood is packed with cafes, restaurants, bars, local designer shops and beautifully preserved buildings. The lane is also renowned for its street art, making exploring the area such a delight. Each room is equipped with a fully functioning cocktail bar and intriguing peel back artwork. Head to Curious for libations, Lollo for cosmopolitan flavours and Culprit for that daily caffeine booster.
