Fully immerse in his work, renowned environmental artist Ned Kahn shares with Katie Boon the travel destinations that inspire him, including a yearly meditation retreat to clear his mind.

, Mindful journey

Ned Kahn’s avant-garde structures have one thing in common: they are designed to encapsulate natural forces – wind, sand, water, fire, and fog. As a practitioner of Vipassana Buddhism, he is inspired by the notions of substantiality and insubstantiality, and aims to create artworks that lure people out of their comfort zone and see the world in a different light. The man behind the mesmerising Enagua – a 100 ft tower wrapped in layers of plastic chainmail that ripples in the wind like water – located at Playa Vista Los Angeles, he cites Singapore as one of his favourite cities he has worked in due to the intriguing cultural mix, urban planning and architecture.
