Global Day of Discovery 2023 at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa
Here's what happened at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa's Global Day of Discovery 2023
Renowned for its focus on locality, Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa created a series of elevated experiences that underscore unexpected travelling discoveries through the Global Day of Discovery 2023 programme at the resort.
The programme shined a light on Balinese cultural authenticity in traditions, social impact, and ecotourism. Guests were invited to participate in the exciting three-day journey to get close to local traditions where the resort resides upon, while relishing in the immersive guest experiences.
For three days, from 17 to 19 May 2023, models and ecotourism advocates Veronika Krasnasari and Valerie Krasnadewi hosted the celebrations for guests seeking to experience a holistic experience with a touch of the island’s tradition.
“Today’s travellers crave a genuine connection with the locale, and as part of Renaissance Hotels that takes pride in being the cultural hub of our community, we are committed to captivate our neighbourhood with moments that give our guests something a little bit unexpected every step along their journey,” stated resort’s general manager Martin Ehlers.
On the first day, guests were introduced to the history of endek, the time-honoured ikat cloth from Bali, with Agung Indra from Tenun Agung Bali. Through a talk show named “Endek Woven Fabrics: The Balinese Artwork with Historical and Cultural Value,” a range of endek-based products was showcased, along with the intricate endek-making process by local artisans.
Afterwards, Indonesian’s leading bartender, Kiki Moka and the resort’s head mixologist Yoga Tommy, invited the guests to tasted their creations. The Evenings at Renaissance got more dramatic with a fashion show by Dwi Iskandar, together with lively beats from DJ Triss.
The next day on 18 May 2023, beach-strolling and coral planting activities at Pandawa Beach took place after a delightful breakfast at Roosterfish Beach Club. The activities were entertaining and informative, as they were intended to help guests understand deeper about the ocean protection endeavour by the local community.
Then, guests visited the nearby ZeroWaste Center to get a first-hand understanding of reforestation, marine life, nature preservation, and conservation knowledge.
As the sun set, guests were invited to indulge in innovative cocktails inspired by traditional Indonesian drinks presented by Yoga Tommy, followed with a twelve-course Balinese dinner with wine pairings by executive chef Wisnu Adiyatma at Double Ikat Restaurant.
The menu highlighted the chef’s stellar creations, such as Raw “Tuna Sambal Matah”, Mie Don Kelor Misi Udang, and Sate Sampi Lalah Manis as the main course, while unique sweets like Loloh “Sorbet” and Biu Mas were served as desserts. Every menu was paired with exquisite wine from Sababay Winery.
Guests were seen delighted as they relished in the delicacies while being serenaded by a Balinese flute maestro, Gus Teja.
On the final day, a guided trip on e-bikes by UNIKAT E-Bike commenced, where guests explored the neighbourhood and discovered the local’s splendour, from pristine beaches to divine temples on the cliff.
A spread signature breakfast and the brand-new Revitalizer welcomed the guests as they came back from their jaunt, putting an end to Global Day of Discovery 2023 at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa.
