, Little beer haven

With just ten seats in Proletariat, the latest craft beer bar in New York’s East Village, you’d have to arrive early to snare a bum spot and let beverage director, Chris Elford, take you through almost 30 different and unusual brews from around the world. The beers on the menu change very frequently. Some refreshing picks include the aromatic Grottenbier from the Belgian Brouwerij St. Bernadus brewery, the smooth and bourbon-flavoured Allagash Curieux (an American beer that has been aged in Jim Beam bourbon barrels for eight weeks), and the Thatchers Old Rascal (a dry English cider that has been aged in oak). Prices start from US$7/S$8.60.
