World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018: Osteria Francescana tops this year’s list.
The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2018 have been announced, with Spain and U.S.A. dominating the list.
It was one of the most anticipated nights of the year in the global F&B calendar: the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018, presented by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna. The all-important list was revealed on 19 June at an exclusive awards ceremony in Bilbao, attended by VIPs, top toques and restaurateurs.
The big winner of the night was Osteria Francescana reclaiming the prestigious No. 1 spot (formerly No.2), with El Celler de Can Roca claiming second place on the list.
Spain and U.S.A. tied with seven winners each, with restaurants like last year’s No.1, Eleven Madison Park (No.4 on the 2018 list) and Mugaritz (No.9) on the coveted list. Disfrutar in Barcelona not only took home the No.18 spot, but was also awarded the Highest New Entry.
First-time entrants to The World’s 50 Best list included Disfrutar, Lyle’s (No.38) and Mikla (No.44).
The biggest surprise of the night was Odette (No. 5 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 list), who flew our national flag high with Singapore’s first entry into the World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018 list at No. 28. Chef Julien Royer, whose recipes appeared on the cover pages of the January 2018 issue of epicure, offers an inimitably enchanting experience at his French fine dining restaurant in National Gallery.
