COMO Canggu Celebrates Indonesia’s Independence Day with Flavours of Freedom Cocktails

As Indonesia prepares to celebrate another Independence Day, COMO Beach Club at COMO Canggu is raising a glass to the nation’s remarkable culinary heritage with Flavours of Freedom, a series of limited-edition cocktails available throughout August 2026. Drawing inspiration from the colours, ingredients, and stories of the Indonesian archipelago, the six bespoke creations offer a spirited tribute to the country’s rich cultural identity.

Rather than relying on familiar festive cocktails, COMO Beach Club turns to Indonesia’s pantry – think arak, pandan, tamarind, gula jawa, kaffir lime, and fragrant spices – to tell the story of the nation through contemporary mixology. Designed to be enjoyed against the backdrop of Echo Beach, each cocktail captures a different expression of Indonesia, from its tropical abundance to its enduring sense of pride.

Leading the collection is Garuda 45, a bold blend of dark rum, spiced arak, palm sugar, and tamarind that pays homage to the year Indonesia declared its independence. Batavia Storm offers a refreshing highball of light rum, gula jawa, lime, and Batavia ginger beer, while Red and White Elixir celebrates the Indonesian flag with layers of vibrant strawberry and velvety coconut foam. For those drawn to aromatic flavours, Nusantara Spice combines pandan, clove honey, and spiced rum, while Garuda Golden Flight delivers a tropical medley of aged rum, mango, passionfruit, and vanilla finished with a delicate golden accent. Completing the lineup is Spirit of Nusantara, an herbaceous cocktail featuring arak, kaffir lime, lemongrass, and honey that showcases the unmistakable flavours of the archipelago.

“Indonesia’s Independence Day is a meaningful occasion for our team and our community, and we wanted to celebrate it in a way that felt both joyful and authentic to COMO Beach Club,” says Henry Scott, general manager of COMO Canggu. “Each cocktail has its own personality, but collectively they express our pride in Indonesia and the remarkable diversity of flavours found across the archipelago.”

Available exclusively throughout August at IDR 185,000++ per cocktail, Flavours of Freedom invites guests to savour Indonesia one glass at a time. Whether you’re watching the sun dip below the Indian Ocean or gathering with friends to mark the nation’s independence, the collection offers a refreshing reminder that some of the country’s most memorable stories can be told through a perfectly crafted drink.
