COMO Uma Canggu Wraps Up its Culinary Odyssey 2025 with the Karangasem Edition

COMO Uma Canggu brings its 2025 COMO Culinary Odyssey to a poignant close with the Karangasem Edition, a collaboration with the acclaimed Bali Asli Restaurant, running from 14 August to 30 September 2025. This finale invites guests into the soul of East Bali through megibung, the royal court dining tradition born in Karangasem to unite communities over shared plates.

Penelope Jane Williams from Bali Asli Restaurant wraps up COMO Uma Canggu’s Culinary Odyssey 2025

At the helm is Bali Asli’s founder and executive chef, Penelope Jane Williams, whose menu traces the stories, landscapes, and spirit of the region. Expect bamboo-steamed Sidemen red rice, fragrant jackfruit curry, and barbecued coconut curd prepared over coconut husks. Signature plates include Be Siap Mepanggang (baby Balinese chicken marinated in local spices), Pesan Telengis Gerang (smoky parcels of coconut curd, bean sprouts, and dried whitebait), and Tapé Goreng (crispy, golden fritters of fermented cassava).

Expect traditional Balinese delicacies from Karangasem at the Culinary Odyssey

This edition of COMO Uma Canggu’s Culinary Odyssey extends to Karangasem-inspired cocktails and mocktails, from the arak-laced Bali Beneath the Trees with gula pasir fruit and lemongrass, to the Sacred Spring, a cooling blend of lemongrass, tangerine, and ginger flower syrup.

Savour rich Karangasem cuisine accompanied by an expansive ocean view

“Karangasem has a rhythm and richness unlike anywhere else,” says chef Williams. “With every plate and every flavour, we’re inviting guests not just to taste the land, but to understand its spirit.”

“This edition brings our 2025 Culinary Odyssey to a close with a deep connection to Bali’s cultural roots,” COMO Uma Canggu general manager Henry Scott adds. “It is a celebration of community, heritage, and craftsmanship – and we are honoured to partner with Chef Williams and Bali Asli Restaurant for this meaningful finale.”

Available for lunch and dinner at COMO Beach Club for IDR 395,000++ per person. Reservations are essential at dining.uma.canggu@comohotels.com or +62 811 3820 9418.
