Join Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay for an authentic Balinese cooking class

On 7 March, the Island of the Gods will commemorate Nyepi, a sacred and one of the most important days in the Balinese calendar. The Balinese New Year is also known as “the Day of Silence”, where the entire island (as well as tourists) will observe 24 hours of peace without engaging in any kind of activities. As it’s frowned upon to cook on Nyepi Day, the Balinese will usually prepare lots of food in advance.

Curious to know what the locals eat? Join the half-day Nyepi-themed cooking classes conducted by Jala Cooking Academy in Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay. From 1 to 6 March, head chef Kristya Yudha will be sharing recipes like tum be siap (minced chicken with local spices wrapped in banana leaf), botok nangka (chopped young jackfruit with wild ginger sauce — ginger being a natural food preservative), and ketipat (steamed rice cooked in coconut served with spicy sambal sauce. Each lesson will start with a 9am tour of the Jimbaran Market before heading back to the cooking school. RP1,200,000/person inclusive of market tour, transport and lunch.
