What better way to do your part for charity than to support the local culinary heavyweights who will be cooking at the Ultimate Hawker Fest 2012? Jointly organised by TOUCH Community Services and Millenia Walk, this festival will bring together more than 20 hawkers, master chefs, and F&B retail outlets to reinvent some of Singapore’s favourite dishes. Local culinary maestros such as chef Eric Teo, will present his version of laksa, but with luscious Boston lobster flesh. Jin Jin Dessert will serve up their famous Chendol topped with a scoop of decadent Mao Shan Wang durian purée. Also included in the variety of hawkers is third generation hawker Jacky Tan, whose grandfather, Tan Yong Fa, invented the Kueh Tu Tu back in the 1930s, as well as fourth generation beef kway teow maestros, Hock Lam Beef.
This event aims to raise at least $150,000 in support of over 20,000 beneficiaries of TOUCH, including children from low-income or single-parent families, youths at risk, needy families, people with special and healthcare needs, and the frail elderly. The public can purchase coupons in advance at $50 per sheet, in denominations of $5 and $10 from http://www.touch.org.sg/UltimateHawkerFest2012 or the Millenia Walk Service Desk.
