Translocation of rhinos to the Western Serengeti

A heart for wildlife

Conservation efforts in Africa have taken a hit, and Singita’s team has ramped up efforts with partners to encourage support for the anti-poaching canine unit at Sabi Sand and the Rhino Translocation Fundraiser. Singita partners the Lowveld Trust to support expert handlers and trained canines who sniff out illegal poaching activities in the reserve. Guests who book a canine unit guest experience at Sabi Sand will contribute to these efforts.

Singita’s conservation partner in Tanzania, The Grumeti Fund is also the proud custodian of 350,000 acres of the western Serengeti ecosystem in Tanzania, working on a project to translocate and reintroduce endangered wildlife species. Singita is currently supporting the Eastern Black Rhino Re-establishment Project, an important initiative aiming to raise S$710,650 to support the next translocation of five eastern black rhino to the Western Serengeti, and they welcome donations from the public.

 Stopping the hunger

Disadvantaged families in Hong Kong face even bigger challenges during this period, and Foodlink is helping to supply these families with safe-to-eat surplus food from hotels and F&B outlets. For every delivery order with Cafe Gray Deluxe from The Upper House in Hong Kong, guests can add a minimum of HK$50 to their order to buy a food bag that goes to the foundation’s food supply. Each bag contains rice, noodles, oats, canned food and soup, cereal bars and hand sanitiser. Guests can also donate canned food items, which the delivery team will collect when orders are delivered.

In Bali, local families in the Keliki Village will receive funds for basic food supplies from Capella Ubud, Bali. The hotel will donate 5% of proceeds from each booking of its Solitude in Nature experience. Designed to maximise mental and spiritual wellbeing, the programme includes a yoga session and a spiritual purification ritual for guests, who will enjoy peaceful surrounds in the rainforest while staying in glam tents.

Nurturing the nurses

Shanghai’s nurses get some pampering, especially those who have postponed their weddings to tackle the frontline fight against COVID-19. Capella Shanghai celebrates these healthcare workers by offering a complimentary one-night stay in the Shikumen Villa and three complimentary wedding gowns from Nora Reve Bridal for each nurse.
