Celebrating the French bistronomy movement in Bali
Savour modernised iconic French dishes at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali.
About two decades ago, up-and-coming chef Yves Camdeborde grew tired of the somber atmosphere and extortionate bills at the high-end Parisian restaurant he was working for. Driven by his passion for fine French cooking, Camdeborde started his own eatery where diners can enjoy terrines, foie gras, and other traditional French recipes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The concept soon became popular, and the term bistronomie – or bistronomy in English – was coined.
Inspired by this now global trend, Anarasa Restaurant at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali invites all to enjoy seven new and exclusive Bistronomy cuisines from 20 October to 20 November. Available for lunch and dinner, the hotel’s experienced culinary team is celebrating 25 years of bistronomy and its impact on the world’s culinary landscape, by combining the finest ingredients with the longstanding discipline and techniques that French cuisine is famous for.
Feast on all the bounties of the sea with French dishes like Moules Marinières (Rp190,000), which brings together fresh mussels in simmered butter, onion, cornflour, garlic, thyme and wine or the Cabillaud à la Bordelaise (Rp340,000), cod fillet prepared with butter, shallot, and white wine served with heated lobster and mashed potatoes. Red meat aficionados can treat themselves with the Cordon-bleu au Comté (Rp360,000), a juicy, marinated veal rump dipped in butter and breadcrumbs served with hand-cut chips and mesclun. This dish uses a special variety of Comté cheese produced from the milk of Montbéliard and French Simmental cows, fed with fresh plants from the Jura mountains.
Reflecting the poetry of the French language and the country’s culinary flair, Anarasa Restaurant insists on preparing a truly French dining experience through their cuisine. In addition, Anarasa Restaurant will also offer Café Gourmand, a Parisian invention which is equivalent to the British afternoon tea except it is served at any time of the day. Available at Rp65,000, the Café Gourmand consists of coffee paired with a selection of petits fours that are light and delightful to the senses.
