WINE DIVINE

Established in 1853 by Thomas Hardy, vanguard of the Australian wine industry, Hardys, celebrates 160 illustrious years of winemaking excellence. The brand boasts a rich history, one marked by historical milestones: in 1857, Hardy shipped two hogsheads of wine to England, marking his native country’s first entry into the wine export market. By 1894, he was already the colony’s largest wine producer with 315,000 gallons. Today, Hardys portfolio is a diverse representation of styles, regions and prices, from everyday wines to premium pours that preserve varietal fruit characters while incorporating winemaking methods that add underlying texture and complexity. Three winners will receive a hamper comprising one Sir James Vintage, one Heritage Reserve Bin Shiraz and two wines from The William Hardy range. Named after Bill Hardy, the great-great grandson of Thomas Hardy, the eponymous selection reflects a marriage of Old and New world influences from his winemaking training at the University of Bordeaux, and the cutting edge viticulture of his family’s plots in Tintara, McLaren Vale, South Australia.

William Hardy 2012 Chardonnay
Intense aromatics of melon and white peach, coupled with a fresh and lively palate, rich with stone fruits and lemon zest. The judicious use of oak provides structure for a lingering finish.

William Hardy 2012 Shiraz
Deep red colour, vanilla, plum and blackberry flavours, and fine, soft tannins. The wine has a vibrant core of sweet flavours and leaves a long flavoursome finish on the palate.

Sir James Vintage
Medium straw with a fresh green gold hue. Nuances of citrus blossom and sour dough yeast emanate from aged premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Heritage Reserve Bin Shiraz
Musky notes, complex nose and fruit-cake like characters imbued with nectarine flavours.
