Sunset Yoga and Candle Making: A Mindful Independence Day Celebration in Bali

Sunset yoga and candle making offer a more mindful way to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Month, inviting guests to pause, reconnect and embrace the quieter moments of togetherness. On Saturday, 15 August 2026, Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel welcomes guests and the local community to Sunset Yoga + Candle Making: Stretch for the Nation, an intimate wellness experience set against the tranquil backdrop of the Garden Pavilion.

Held as part of Indonesia’s Independence Month celebrations, the afternoon brings together mindful movement, hands-on creativity and a sense of community. Rather than marking the occasion with grandeur, Stretch for the Nation offers a gentler interpretation of togetherness that is rooted in gratitude, reflection and being fully present.

The experience begins at golden hour with a guided sunset yoga session, inviting participants to move with intention while reconnecting with their breath and surroundings. As the afternoon light softens over Bali, the practice becomes an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and simply be present in the moment.

From movement, the experience transitions into creativity. Following the yoga session, participants will take part in a candle-making workshop, crafting their own keepsake to take home. The tactile experience offers another form of mindfulness, encouraging guests to work with their hands, explore personal expression and create something that embodies the calm of the afternoon.

At its heart, Stretch for the Nation reflects a simple philosophy: wellness does not always need to be elaborate. Sometimes, it can be found in the rhythm of a breath, the sensation of movement, the act of creating something by hand or the joy of sharing an experience with others. In this setting, the spirit of Independence Month is expressed through connection.

Adding to the experience, each participant will receive light refreshments, a curated goodie bag valued at IDR 1,000,000, complimentary skin analysis and the use of yoga mats throughout the session.

The event begins with doors opening at 3pm, with the wellness experience taking place at the Garden Pavilion. Participation is priced at IDR 200,000 nett per person, with guests encouraged to incorporate a touch of red into their attire as a nod to the colours and spirit of the nation.

As Bali’s golden hour unfolds, Stretch for the Nation offers an invitation to celebrate differently: with less noise, more intention and a little more room to appreciate the present. It is an afternoon where wellness meets creativity, and where a simple gathering becomes a quiet tribute to togetherness.
