Tandoori Bar & Grill Opens at Karma Kandara as Bali’s Only Beachfront Indian Restaurant

Indian cuisine has found an extraordinary new address on Bali’s southern coastline. Nestled within the cliffside sanctuary of Karma Kandara in Ungasan, Tandoori Bar & Grill introduces a dining concept that pairs the rich culinary heritage of India with uninterrupted ocean views, making it the island’s only beachfront Indian restaurant.

Designed as an all-day destination, the restaurant evolves effortlessly throughout the day. Morning guests can begin with traditional Indian breakfast offerings before the venue transitions into a casual lunch experience from 11am to 5pm, featuring a menu inspired by India’s beloved street food culture. Expect comforting favourites such as Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Paneer Chilli, and Chicken Tikka Kathi Rolls – perfect for a relaxed seaside lunch without the formality of a full-course meal.

As the sun begins to set over the Indian Ocean, Tandoori Bar & Grill shifts into its evening persona. The restaurant’s clay ovens come to life, producing smoky tandoor-grilled specialties alongside richly spiced curries and generous sharing plates. Signature dishes include Mushroom Tikka, Lamb Seekh Kebab, and Chicken Tikka Kandhari, prepared with a delicate pomegranate yoghurt sauce that balances warmth with subtle sweetness.

The menu extends beyond the tandoor with a thoughtful selection of vegetarian and meat dishes that celebrate regional Indian flavours. Plant-based highlights include the smoky Baingan Bharta and classic Palak Paneer, while hearty favourites such as Butter Chicken and the slow-cooked Laal Mas mutton curry showcase the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine. Completing the experience are timeless staples including biryani, freshly baked breads, chaat, rice, desserts, raita, and salads.

Guiding the culinary direction is Chef Jeevraj Singh, whose journey began in his grandmother’s kitchen in Rajasthan before leading him through royal palaces and acclaimed kitchens across the world. His cooking reflects generations of tradition while embracing the experiences gathered throughout his international career, resulting in dishes that remain deeply rooted in authenticity.

“Our goal with Tandoori Bar & Grill is simply to offer a space where guests can enjoy genuine flavours at their own pace,” says Rai Artawan, general manager of Karma Kandara. “Whether stopping by for a light bite in the afternoon or gathering with family for a relaxed dinner, we are looking forward to sharing these dishes with everyone who comes through our doors.”

Located within Karma Kandara’s exclusive beachfront setting in Ungasan, Tandoori Bar & Grill offers more than just exceptional Indian restaurant in Bali – it presents an opportunity to enjoy authentic flavours against one of the island’s most spectacular coastal backdrops. Guests planning to dine should note that access to the private members’ club area requires a complimentary registration through the Karma Subito App and Karma Club Guest Membership, which also unlocks exclusive dining, spa, and accommodation benefits.
