The full list of 44 restaurants in MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2019

The results of MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2019 are in. Announced at an awards ceremony at Capella Singapore, this year’s list sees a total of 44 restaurants receiving stars. This is an increase from 39 restaurants in 2018.

First-time entrants to the coveted list include Basque Kitchen by Aitor (one star), JAG (one star) and Zén (two stars). Terra, which lost its star in 2018, bounces back to reclaim its one Michelin star.

The new international director of MICHELIN Guides, Gwendal Poullennec, says in his welcome speech, “Singapore is the final launch of the 2019 editions, it is the last for the year but it’s not the least. We are here to celebrate the chefs, to celebrate their patience and their drive to push the boundaries of their creations.”

Favourites like Corner House, Braci and Candlenut maintained their one-star ranking and Japanese-European restaurant, Waku Ghin retained two Michelin stars.

And the pleasant surprise of the night? Odette (no.1 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 and no. 18 on World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019) and veteran French restaurant Les Amis take home the coveted three stars!

“It’s an honour to cook here. We (Odette) didn’t see the three stars coming – we have always put our customers first rather than chasing the stars. It’s all about taking care of your customers, then the stars will naturally come. My team is a huge part of this success; you can be an excellent chef but without a good team you are nothing. This award goes out to them (especially Adam Wan, Levin Lau and Yeo Sheng Xiong),” shares Julien Royer, chef-owner of three Michelin-starred Odette.
