Victorian tipples

Sawdust brush your feet and a bespoke Victorian lamppost stands sentinel among the brick-lined walls in London’s The Worship Street Whistling Shop, the second watering hole from Fluid Movement, a group formed by Bryan Pietersen, Matt Whiley, Thomas Aske and Tristan Stephenson (their first venture was Purl, a Dickensian themed basement bar). The bar pays homage to the city’s popular gin culture of the 1820s, reinventing cocktails from that era, such as the House Gin Fizz (£8.50/S$17), spiced up with orange bitters and extra virgin olive oil. For something a little different, ask for the barrel aged alcoholic infusions like the Gin & Pep (£9), a blend of Tanqueray 10 Gin and vintage crème de menthe, and the seductive Jagertee (£8), a concoction of Pampero Rum, WS2 Quotidian Tea, poppy seed, vanilla and hazelnut. Each serving is dispensed directly from a small hand-coopered barrel.
