Presenting a buffet from the heart
Si Chuan Dou Hua rolls out Treats from the Heart Weekend a la carte Dim Sum Buffet, from now till September.
The dining area of Si Chuan Dou Hua at PARKROYAL on Beach Road was abuzz with the chatter of guests during a weekday lunch. Although busy, the ambience was relaxing and inviting as the tables were well spread out and allowed for quiet conversations among groups. Anticipating that diners might be craving “nostalgic delights” in a convivial setting with friends and family, the restaurant is offering a favourite treat for Singaporeans – the dim sum buffet. Its Treats from the Heart Weekend a la carte Dim Sum Buffet is one that will satiate your palate with an abundant menu of dim sum, appetisers, nourishing soups and desserts.
Yes, buffet, and Si Chuan Dou Hua has spared no expense to ensure that diners enjoy a generous spread with all dishes individually plated and served; so there are no worries in terms of strict hygiene protocols. What diners have to worry about is having a huge appetite; the menu I was presented with was generous in variety and in spirit. The buffet is aptly named as it is a heartfelt one, with no holding back on the quality and variety of premium specialities, with unlimited servings, mind you. I was already satiated by the time the noodles came around.
Appetisers such as Sliced Pig Ear in Sichuan Pepper Sauce and Marinated Black Fungus with Chilli Padi whetted the palate, while the premium specialities delighted with their taste and presentation. To start, the Deep-fried Fluffy Swan Pastry with Foie Gras had the right balance of textures to enhance the rich flavour, while the Steamed Sea Urchin Siew Mai was an umami rendition of a dim sum favourite. That’s the beauty of the dim sum dishes I had sampled; from the Baked Abalone BBQ Pork Pastry, Steamed Crabmeat Xiao Long Bao and Steamed Lobster/Scallop Dumplings to the Baked Mini Egg Tart with Bird’s Nest, it was clear Executive Chef Zeng Feng knew how to keep you going with the right balance of uplifting notes. Don’t miss out on the soups too; the Boiled Spare Ribs Soup with Golden Mushrooms, Bean Curd and Preserved Capsicum had a pleasant tart flavour that brightened up my taste buds.
Available till September 27 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11:30am to 2pm at $52++ per adult and $30++ for children (6-12 years old).
