Time for thanksgiving
It’s not celebrated with much aplomb on this side of the globe, but if you’d like to commemorate the harvest festival with turkey, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, here are some places that dole out the Thanksgiving delights.
Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore
Lawry’s rings in the season with a six-course Thanksgiving menu ($95) by executive chef Nick Lee that includes festive treats like turkey breast, pumpkin soup and pecan pie, Lobster and Atlantic Scallops and Mexican Shrimp Ceviche. The relocated restaurant at Mandarin Orchard—with its rich mahogany panelling and steel serving carts—is a throwback to an older America, making it the ideal venue to celebrate a time-honoured tradition. Available throughout the month.
333A Orchard Road, #04-01/31 Mandarin Gallery. Tel: 6836 3333
Pan Pacific Singapore
The five-star hotel is featuring two different evening specials that are perfect for big family gatherings—children between six and 12 years old are charged according to their age (a child aged 6 pays $6), and teens aged 13 to 17 enjoy 50 percent off buffet prices. A Traditional Dinner at Global Kitchen ($68) offers delights like Roasted Spring Chicken with Red Wine Thyme Sauce, Grilled Lamb Chops, and Warm Apple and Coconut Strudel, while a Thanksgiving Barbecue at Brunch ($48) includes turkey and gammon ham carving stations situated by the poolside, and complemented with apple pies and pumpkin tarts.

Conrad Centennial Singapore
Though Oscar’s offers the customary buffet ($48) with carved turkey and chestnut stuffing, pumpkin soup and pie, it is doing things a little differently this year. For one, the spreads are available for lunch (12 to 2.30pm) instead of dinner, and a noodle bar—with a variety of broths and toppings—will be introduced for an Asian twist. The Lobby Lounge offers an Executive Lunch ($32) on Thanksgiving Day with Honey Glazed Turkey or Salmon with Olive Tomato Salsa as mains. Dessert is a buffet of chocolate pecan pies, macadamia and chocolate brownies, and raisin and apple pies.
