Some designer spirits look like they belong behind a glass display in an art gallery, and the Chivas Regal 18-year-old by Christian Lacroix—the second collaboration between the haute couture maestro and the blended whisky producer—falls in that category. Like its predecessor (the Chivas 12-year-old Magnum, which Lacroix designed), the bottle is adorned with etched motifs delivered by a precise laser metallisation technique. What makes this edition unique is the embroidered jacquard label, which adds an extra textural element to the overall design. It comes in a treasure box panelled with mirrors on the inside, flaunting the product’s artwork.

The Bowmore 40-year-old limited edition lets its pride for its region of Islay show on its bottle, literally. The hand-blown crystal glass material is wrapped with sculpted ‘rocks’ that are synonymous with the coastal terrain of Islay. Having spent its four-decade slumber in an ex-bourbon cask, the spirit has evolved into a mellow, complex creature. Kick back in your armchair, and savour its notes of butterscotch, raisins and dates.
