, Why Basilico is still one of the best brunches in town

Long Sunday lunches in Italy are de rigueur and Basilico at Regent Singapore knows just how to recreate the abiding tradition. The Pranzo della Domenica or Italian Sunday lunch is an eye-widening spread of seasonal Italian fare. Pause to take it all in before starting at the fresh burrata bar, where mounds of the fresh creamy cheese are infused with Primitivo wine. There are over 40 other cheeses for the picking: a Tuscan Pecorino aged in dried grass, soft cheese specked with black truffles, and a three-milk Robiola made from goat, sheep and cow’s milk to name just a few. Don’t fill up there, for the hot mains offer a gamut of poached lobster with lemon and herb oil, foie gras from a dedicated station, foccacia mascarpone with Parma ham, and black truffle risotto. A walk-through the Chef’s Table is a must, if only for the fresh pasta that is made a la minute. The kids will be kept busy at the gelato bar, but when their attention span grows thin, a Kids’ Corner complete with bouncy castle, games and cartoons should set them back on track again.

Every Sunday, 12 to 3pm. From $98 with free-flow soft drinks and juices. Level 2 Regent Singapore. Tel: 6725 3232
