Sip and savour Alsace in Singapore
The first Alsace Festival on 5 March promises a discovery of noble grape varieties unique to the charming region.
The Alsace Wine & Gastronomy Society (AWGS), supported by event partners Sopexa, La Petite Boutique and Schott Zwiesel, has put together a stellar line-up of wines and food for its inaugural Alsace Festival on 5 March.
For the first time in Singapore, 10 of the top Alsace wine labels will be gathered under the same banner to offer more uncommon varietals such as Muscat d’Alsace and Sylvaner for tastings. The 50 wines for sampling include the region’s inimitable Pinot Gris, dry Riesling, full-bodied Gewürztraminer and crisp Crémant d’Alsace, from wineries such as Léon Beyer, Hugel, Josmeyer, Kreydenweiss and Zind-Humbrecht.
Fans can keep a lookout for Marc Beyer of Domaine Leon Beyer, who will be onsite. Beyer is also hosting a winemaker dinner on 4 Mar ($198) at Bar-A-Thym, which will see a horizontal of his 2008 Comtes d'Eguisheim range, as well as aged gems shipped specially from his family cellars.
Alsatian food specialties such as charcuterie and cheese will be available for sampling and sale from gourmet store La Petite Boutique.
Tickets $45 (early bird till 22 Feb) & $55, includes a complimentary Schott Zwiesel glass and $15 purchase credit on wine buys. 5 Mar, 1.30-5.30pm. Colonial Room, The American Club, 10 Claymore Hill. Enquiries: alsacesg@gmail.com
