Yering Station Village Chardonnay 2016

Victoria’s first vineyard, now owned by the Rathbone family, is the standard bearer of Chardonnay in the yarra Valley. This Village Chard is completely barrel fermented, spending 11 months in French barrels – 10 percent new and 90 percent seasoned – for a creamy mouthfeel that’s propped up with a mineral backbone. It’s more complex than its Little yering sibling, and proves a fine match for seafood and appetisers. $52 from 1855 The Bottle Shop
