Tangelo Bali and Karu Presents Bali-Inspired Cocktails in The Upcoming Collaboration

One drink takes its name from flowers; another, from the meeting of two rivers. Tangelo Bali at Cicada Resort Bali Ubud, Autograph Collection shapes those references into A Sip of Stories, a collaboration with Karu bringing Balinese heritage into two original cocktails. Set in Sebatu, north of Ubud, the experience combines a guided spirit tasting with the live cultural performances of Nusantara Night.

Sekar Jagat, meaning flower of the world, celebrates Bali’s tropical blossoms, particularly pucuk bang, and the gratitude expressed through daily floral offerings. Campuhan takes its name from the meeting of two rivers mirrored in the blend of Karu spirits and rose vermouth.

Together, the cocktails bring local symbolism into Tangelo Bali programme, defining the the contemporary mixology in Ubud. The emphasis is on context and craft, with each pour linked to a distinct cultural reference.

The two signature cocktails derive from Bali’s cultural landscape

Karu itself is a locally crafted spirit shaped by Japanese shochu-making and Bali’s distilling heritage. It is made from Cilembu honey sweet potatoes and spring water sourced from the rainforest of Mount Batukaru in Tabanan. Known for its ancient forest and natural springs, Bali’s second-highest mountain gives the spirit a distinct sense of place. A single-distillation process preserves the ingredients’ character, resulting in a clean, balanced, smooth finish.

The evening offers guests in Ubud a chance to discover the spirit behind the cocktails before the programme moves into Nusantara Night’s live performances and Indonesian artistry. The event reflects Tangelo Bali’s approach to meaningful dining experiences, where local ingredients and artisanal craft can tell stories beyond the plate or glass.

The collaboration is a meeting of tradition and contemporary mixology

A Sip of Stories mixology collaboration at Tangelo Bali, Cicada Resort Bali Ubud, Autograph Collection takes place on 10 November from 5.30pm onwards. Both cocktails will remain exclusively available at Tangelo Bali until 31 December 2026, giving visitors to Ubud more time to try the creations after the launch. Limited seating is available, and advance reservations are recommended.
