How would you articulate the core vision of the brand – how does it seek to bridge the gap between captivating Balinese heritage and the contemporary individual’s quest for a private sanctuary?
We view Bamboo Tiger as a living bridge – a dialogue between the profound, time-honoured wisdom of Balinese and the urgent need for quietude in a hyper-connected world. Our vision is to transform the private sanctuary from a mere physical space into a portable state of being. By distilling the raw energy of the archipelago into refined botanical products, we enable modern individuals to carry a piece of Bali’s grounding serenity with them, wherever their journey may lead.
Lastly, we have been informed that this line is a more premium line from Bamboo Tiger. Is there any specific product distribution or market demographic that you are targeting?
These two collections represent an elevated expression of the brand, designed for the discerning individualist who values authenticity over popularity. We are targeting a demographic that considers wellness a serious investment – specifically, wellness-conscious travellers and resident aesthetes who seek niche, high-performance products. Our brand is made accessible to all skin types and genders, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity.
As a result, our distribution is intentionally curated. You can find this line in our flagship stores in Kuta, at Bali Soap, and in Uluwatu at Bamboo Tiger, as well as in select boutiques that align with our commitment to a nature-first ethos. The 1% untuk Alam movement is an elegant loop of reciprocity. We recognise that our efficacy as a wellness brand depends entirely on the health of the ecosystems that birth our ingredients. This commitment is executed through sustained, direct partnerships with NGOs that are dedicated to restoring the vitality of nature through their programs. We are currently in discussions with several organisations to ensure that our values align. This initiative ensures that every time a guest indulges in a self-care ritual, they are simultaneously acting as a steward for the very forests that provide that nourishment.
The new collection highlights Illipe Butter as its cornerstone – a true nature’s secret from the rainforests of West Borneo. What drew your team to the Tengkawang tree, and why is this specific ingredient?
The team is committed to incorporating the native ingredient from Indonesia, an ingredient which can only be found here. That is why we choose Illipe Butter that comes from the Tengkawang tree from the depths of the forest in West Borneo.
After years of development, we present Illipe Butter as the main ingredient for our Illipe Butter Collection – often hailed as nature’s best-kept secret. Its distinctive molecular profile flawlessly mimics the skin’s natural lipids, which in turn, sets it apart from more common butters.
