Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort is bringing a fresh perspective to the art of discovery with Renaissance Day of Discovery 2026, a two-day celebration of Indonesian culture, craftsmanship and contemporary creativity. Taking place on 31 October and 1 November, the programme invites guests to experience Bali beyond its familiar landscapes, connecting with local makers, regional flavours and traditions through a series of thoughtfully curated encounters.
The celebration forms part of Renaissance Hotels’ annual Day of Discovery, which returns across participating properties in Asia Pacific, excluding China, throughout October and November. Guided by this year’s theme, Layers of Discovery, the initiative explores the character of each destination through its neighbourhoods, creative communities and cultural heritage.
At the heart of the experience is the evolution of Evenings at Renaissance, a collection of beverage rituals developed in collaboration with Indonesian bartender Demitria “Demi” Dana Paramita, founder of HATS Bar Jakarta and the brand’s first Beverage Rituals Ambassador. Reinterpreting familiar ingredients and cultural traditions through a contemporary lens, the collection features three signature concepts: Blooming Flower, an interactive floral punch; The Night Market, inspired by the energy of evening markets; and Silk Road, a fragrant combination of tea, saffron and spices.
An evening celebrating Indonesian craftsmanship
The festivities at Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort begin on 31 October at 4pm with an exclusive workshop at R Bar, where invited guests can create accessories from recycled glass beads in collaboration with Segi Jewelry. The experience sets the tone for an evening that places local craftsmanship and creative expression at the forefront.
As night falls, Malam Gemintang, meaning an evening under the stars, brings together a curated selection of Indonesian artisans and independent brands. Visitors can explore handcrafted treasures, artisanal products and culinary creations from Segi Jewelry, Saraswati Papers, Si.Rangkai and Neliyo Wear, each offering a glimpse into the country’s diverse creative landscape.
Drinks take centre stage through The Punch Bowl, a cocktail experience inspired by the lively atmosphere of a local night market. Featuring Arak Bumbung, a traditional Balinese spirit, the ritual celebrates the island’s distinctive flavours while reimagining a familiar part of its drinking culture for a contemporary audience.
The evening also pays tribute to Indonesia’s performing arts. A condensed rendition of the Ramayana Ballet, accompanied by a mini Kecak dance, opens the cultural programme, blending classical storytelling with the energy of contemporary performance. The celebration continues at the Jungle Pool, where local designers Neli Gunawan and Yusi Hendrawati present a fashion showcase inspired by Indonesia’s rich artistic heritage. Fire dance performances and music curated by the resort’s resident DJ complete the evening.
Creative encounters continue by day
On 1 November, discovery takes a more leisurely turn with lunch at Tanah Liat, the resort’s seafood restaurant, at 1pm. A refreshed dining concept highlights local ingredients and regional flavours, offering a culinary perspective on the richness of Indonesia’s produce.
Guests can then take part in a bookbinding and decoration workshop hosted by Saraswati Papers, a Bali-based studio known for producing handmade paper from 100 per cent recycled materials. The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to traditional craftsmanship and creative reuse, extending the weekend’s exploration of sustainability and local artistry.
The programme concludes at 5pm with Blooming Flower, a special Punch Bowl experience at R Bar. Featuring Nusa Caña, a premium Indonesian rum, the communal cocktail ritual brings guests together over a shared beverage, underscoring the role of hospitality in fostering meaningful connections.
Discovering Bali through local stories
Beyond its programme of workshops, performances and drinks, Renaissance Day of Discovery reflects a broader approach to travel: one in which a destination is experienced through the people, flavours and traditions that shape its identity.
Through the collaboration with Demi Dana Paramita and a roster of local artisans, designers and cultural practitioners, Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort positions discovery as an experience that extends beyond the resort itself. From the heritage of Arak Bumbung to handmade recycled paper and contemporary Indonesian fashion, each encounter reveals another layer of the island’s creative spirit.
